In The Hospital
Mason entered this world kicking and screaming 3 weeeks early. He weighed 6 lbs. 0 oz. and was 19 inches long. He was as healthy as could be and Jared and I were so glad he was finally here.
We had the hardest time figuring out a name that's why only Richardson is showing up under his name. We had talked about Mason awhile back and it was probably our 3rd choice. Jared was prepared to let me have my favorite name which was Tanner. The second I held Mason I knew Tanner wasn't the right fit. I thought he looked like a Mason. That totally threw Jared off! Anyway, we finally decided on Jared as a middle name the morning we left the hospital.
about 36 hours with no sleep

My water broke at 9:45pm. At about 1 in the morning they decided that my water really hadn't broken because all the tests they did came back negative. I kept telling them that I swore it was my water. The nurse actually said that she believed me but there was nothing she could do at that point. So, Jared and I, feeling very stupid for going in were "sent packing". We got off the elevator and whoosh more water came flowing - even more than before. We looked at each other and said "Do you think they will believe us now"! So, we went back up they hadn't even cleaned my room yet so I went back in and changed. The same nurse that said she believed me came back and was so ticked off at the lab for getting the results wrong.
They had a bunch of people delivering from 1-3 so they didn't get me started on Pitocin until 3:00am. About that time I started having contractions on my own and was slowly dilating. I had an epidural but it only took to one side. They had me lay on the side that wasn't numb hoping gravity would help and told me to push the medicine button every five minutes. I kept telling them it wasn't helping and that only my toes were a little tingley. This went on for over an hour and by this time I was having some pretty heavy contractions. Finally, they had the Dr. come and redo the epidural. This time it took! It made my left side double numb but I didn't care. I had to keep having Jared lift up my left leg for me to move it! Finally, around 9:00am I started pushing and a little over an hour later at 10:25am Mason was born. It all happened so quickly. My doctor layed Mason on my belly while Jared cut the cord and then they wisked him off to get cleaned up. Jared wasn't sure what to do. He was so cute - he was standing by my side looking over at Mason - I quickly told him that I was okay and to go be with him. He was so relieved and rushed over to make sure they were doing things "right" with Mason.

They didn't believe you about your water breaking? Thats horrible! My epidural with Zack only took to one side also and they had me do the same things-lay on my side and push the button. It didn't work for me either.
